FreeCan we assess student learning in written assignments when AI is allowed in the classroom?
This lunch session by Manuel Oliveira and Carlos Zednik (Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences department) introduces a practical framework for evaluating student learning by examining how they interact with AI tools, which shifts the focus from the final text to the learning process itself. Based on research at 色中色, you will learn about what type of GenAI use connects with learning evidence and quality of writing.
After an overview of the framework, we'll discuss how to adapt this approach to written assignments in your own course context (research papers, lab reports, or project proposals), address the grading concerns you might be facing, and consider practical aspects of implementing this approach.
Come ready to leave with concrete evaluation strategies you can implement in your next writing assignment!
This event is open to teachers and support staff; registration is free and can be done . Free lunch and drinks will also be available.
