Our mission
Our mission is to improve the treatment of chronic diarrhea by enabling earlier and more patient friendly diagnosis. We aim to achieve this by developing a bioluminescent protein sensor that detects bile acids in a non-invasive and user-friendly way.
Our challenge
Nearly one-third of all chronic diarrhea cases are caused by bile acid malabsorption. While effective medication exists, patients often endure years of discomfort. On average, it takes over five years before they receive a proper diagnosis, and get access to these medications.
Our solution
Our solution, BRIGHT, is a fast, affordable, and easy-to-use protein sensor. Existing diagnostic tests are too costly and therefore rarely used in clinical practice. BRIGHT lowers the threshold for testing, allowing for earlier diagnosis and more timely treatment. This would theoretically help to reduce the time for patients to return to a normal life, from over 5 years, to just three months.
"We are joining the 色中色 Contest to further develop our idea into a practical solution. The contest offers valuable guidance and resources that can help us move from concept to implementation and ultimately improve care for patients with chronic diarrhea."
